A reach-in is a combination of storage units that has to perform in a footprint a walk-in would call a wall. Hanging, drawers and shelves sit in one planned run so getting dressed is grab-and-go — not a hunt behind a coat you never wear.
The usual Fairfax reach-in is a pole, a shelf and a pile of shoes. We use the full height, the return walls the door swing hid, and the inches above the rod that kits leave empty. Reach-ins are fabricated in our Virginia millwork shop from ¾-inch thermally fused laminate, 1-millimeter beveled edge banding, and dovetail drawer boxes (5/8-inch birch plywood or maple TFL) with soft-close hardware. Over 50 finishes, including 1mm high-gloss acrylic, and 11 door and drawer profiles. Design consultants and installers are on our payroll — not a franchise crew and not subcontractors.
